Many people go home to a place that is simply a place to relax, spend time with their families, sleep and rejuvenate for the following day. Even those who work from their homes unconsciously create a sanctuary from outside stresses. However, you can make the conscious effort to design your living space and accommodate stress relief. In order for your home to achieve its' potential to be center for relaxation, follow these simple tips.
1. Learn and Live Feng Shui.
Feng shui is the art of placing and spacing specific décor in the home
to optimize the health, well being, and success that is shed on those living
in it. Some simple rules for Feng shui are to remove any randomly placed or
misplaced objects around the home, everything has it's proper place. You should
be mindful of certain areas of your home as well. Each area is connected to
a facet of your life, i.e. success, love, relationships and health. The bathroom,
bedroom and kitchen are the most important areas of the home and in order to
properly design them you must do so according to your Ba-Gua, your personal
feng shui element and Kua, your feng shui number. In order to optimize your
success you must add certain elements to your home such as flowing water, plant
life and natural wood.
2. Have an area dedicated to meditation.
Whether you practice yoga, tai chi or mindful meditation, such as that exhibited
using Zen
sticks, having a small area of your home dedicated to that practice gives
you a place that will not be affected by the outside issues in your life. This
area is your sanctuary and is not used for any other purpose. This can be as
small as an are by a window sill or as large as a basement.
3.Create a relaxing environment throughout the home.
Use plants, fountains, peaceful art and instrumental music to allow your home
to be fully relaxing. Allow time for reflection in your home and listen to the
sounds that are abundant in it's environment. If you are distracted by outside
factors, such as traffic, try adding décor that produces white noise
which will balance out that distraction. Again, indoor wall
fountains are recommended as both filters to clean the air and as producers
of calming white noise. Additionally, if you set up a water
fountain in the southeast corner of your home you will be optimizing your
success according to the principles of feng shui.
4. Create a landscape for relaxation.
A relaxing environment outside your home can be just as important as inside.
No matter how inviting the environment inside the home it is still valuable
to have an escape. Consider designing a small garden area, even if you have
limited space you can watch as you turn it into an option for relaxation. Remember
with small gardens it isn't quantity it's quality, use the space to your advantage
and consider plants that will utilize this apace accordingly, bonsai's are great
for smaller gardens, tomatoes can be contained and trained to grow within a
specified area, mint is not a good choice as it spreads quickly. Once again
the same principles apply and flowing water with a garden
fountain will increase the level of relaxation achieved through this at
home getaway.
